Am getting ready to start looking for "neighborhoods" which means I'm just scouting where we would like to live *BEFORE* we apply for mortgage, etc... Background on me: Filed BK7 April 2003 and Discharged July 2003 Have only 1 American Pacific Visa ($300 limit) My questions are: 1) I understand to wait 2 years post-BK7 but it is based on what? filing date or discharge date? 2) Is there 100% financing with no down payment for post BK7? 3) Does it help if I apply Countrywide Mortgage? I ask because I had mortgage with them before I filed for BK7 (Countrywide was never included in BK because it was sold before BK) TIA! Thomas
What are your fico scores? Do you have more than one positive TL with a $300 limit? I think you need a fico of about 550 to have any chance of getting what you want. Not sure how many TL you need.
you might want to also post this question at www.chat-cards.com - that's a board specifically for BK. I'm not sure there's any hard and fast rule about how long you have to wait, but at the previous poster stated a lot of it depends on your fico and your positive tradelines. You could call countrywide and ask them what their policies are but be careful about giving out your SSNs til you're ready to begin the process or you could find yourself with some inquiries that could drop your score. I've seen some posts here recently about Patelco being a very BK friendly credit union - maybe they have mortgages? Good luck to you Poochie
