Today I got a typewritten postcard in the mail from Providian. The postcard said that do to an oversight on their part I was not billed the $20 annual fee for my additional card. The problem is, I don't have an additional card on either of my Providian accounts. I called them today and was told I was sent the postcard in error. I asked if they were sure I would not be billed and the woman who answered my call assured me I would not. I'd be curious if anyone else here got this postcard.
Everybody should DROP AMEX GOLD and PLAT and go with PROVIDIAN...(only $20.00 for a second card...WOW)!!! NOT!!!!!!!!
When I read this again - is says - "typewritten" - of course that makes me wonder 2 things: 1 - if it really was done on a typewriter, there would be no email trail for the DA's office. 2 - is Providian trying to use FLEET tactics and squeeze every dollar possible in poor customer focused manner? hmmmm Oh wait, the Fleet guy went to Providian.... hmmmm - seems VERY COINCIDENTAL! dogman
I Wonder...if you don't complain... do you get charged the fee? A lot of my friends hardly even check their credit card statements... and these are smart people, professional jobs, prime cards... I wonder how much of Fleet's slime tactics we'll now see at Providian... like Providian needs to go on the low road again...
It would have been interesting if you paid the $20 - if they sent a second card - of course with its own $100 annual fee and interest rate of 29%.... Remember we saw internal documents stating from the big Providian cheese that customers were more easily slammed by disclosure rates that were concealed through the use of promotional literateure - instead of a clearcut disclosure table.... like send them a postcard. Hell - they let me know I was gonna be hit with an increase to 24% - and I didn't have a balance. That's when I made that dog hunt and closed it! aarrfff - dogman
There was a NEW postcard from Providian in the mail today: Dear Valued Providian Customer, Because we value your business, we have decided to waive the retroactive $20 second card annual fee. Please disregard any provious communication you received from us regarding this fee. We apologize for any confusion. Based on your account agreement, you may be charged the annual fee for your second card in the future. If you have any questions, please call the customer service number on the back of your credit card. ---- I guess its time for another phone call to Providian.
Hi Dave! This wreaks! Providian sounds like they are on the screw customer patrol to me.... Do they charge $9.95 for an online payment yet? aarrfff - dogman
How about a 1.00 "you used your card today" fee... or a 1.00 "you didn't use your card today" fee a 59.00 annual fee after you close your account... and every year thereafter... a "We can't manage our company even at these unreal interest rates" fee...via a 1 year retroactive interest rate hike and recalculation of interest you already paid... but now at 29.99 percent...
I think some card companies have closed accounts of people who didnt use their cards "enough." Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever have that problem.

Actually they do it so that lbrown59 will complain about FICO scores in a thread that has nothing to do with FICO scores. Doc
