To be fair though I thought her idea about getting your credit card maxed so that your highest balance reported is high was smart(that is IF it in fact improves your fico or the amount lenders are willing to give you). Although I think the the better way of doing it rather than taking a cash advance would be charging a large item on your credit card shortly before the end of your cycle date and then returning the item. Incidently the balance that gets reported to the credit bureaus is the same as what they send you on your monthly statement,
