Is the fine for non-permissible purpose based upon each pull or in total? A company pulled a tri-merge on both my husband and me twice, for a total of 6 hard inquires each (2 per CRA). Is the fine just $1000? $1000 each? or $1000 per pull for a total of $12000?
Actually, since I'm in California, the fine is $2500. Can I really sue for $30,000? (2 inquiries x 3 CRAs x 2 people x $2500)
DEPENDS on the JUDGE and HIS/HER knowledge...some people have reported that the JUDGE just lumped everything into ONE and rewarded $1,000 + COURT COSTS even though there were 5 or 10 TOTALLY SEPARATE ISSUES...
