PP with Shell/Citi

I noticed that I have 8 AR inquiries on my EQ report from Shell/Citi. These sent them the typical letter asking what PP, etc.

I received a letter back from them with in 15 days (I was shocked) that they would have the inquiried dropped from EQ. Isn't this basically stating that they did not have any permissible purpose?

Since the AR are soft inquiries, I havent suffered any damages, but they did violate FCRA 1681n.

What would be the best approach at this point? Demand the 8k for the 8 violations, send some settlement letter for a lesser amount, or just drop it unless they pull another?

Ask for an INCREASE in your credit limit, NO INQUIRY!!!

$1,000 increase would be nice...$5,000 would be better...

It sure would be nice since I have NO account with them and havent had a Shell account for 8.5 years. I wonder if I can get them to open an account for me if I don't sue them. LOL

I guess I never explicitly stated that I didn't have an account with them in my post. My bad.

You do know, that for no PP you don't have to show damages? What you do next depends on if you want $$ or not. They've already admitted it was a mistake. "Sounds" like a slam dunk.

In California, you can get up to $2500/violation if there were damages. Now I guess the question is if I go after them for the full $8000 and have to do it in civil, or lower it to 5000 for small claims....or offer them a settlement for less.

Anyone have any experience doing this with muliples inquiries?
