Just got a pre-qualified offer from BofA for 2.9% intro rate on BT and purchases on their gold card. Does anyone know what the difference petween pre-approved and pre-qualified is?

My first guess is that pre-qualified is not as strong of an indicator that I will be approved.

I will have to wait for my CHOD results before I apply anyway but I am tempted...

Preapproved is a stronger indication of approval than prequalified. Prequalified means nothing at all.

There is a third status out there. Guarenteed.

I recieved an offer from Cap ! Platinum. $500 to $7500.
    guareneed card they say.

No way I qualify for a platinum now.

Your name was on some list they bought. Look at your PRM inquiries and see if they have specifically gotten your info. Those are better offers - more likely to get the card.

I agree Breeze...If they pull your report again no matter what, then it really is just an ad. I mean I am gonna have to get a hard inquiry and probably on a different report than I would have the PRM on anyway. 2.9% does make me wanna transfer some $ though :)

    PRE SELECTED...TO APPLY
    PRE QUALIFIED...TO APPLY
    PRE APPROVED...TO APPLY

What about the "congratulations, you've been handpicked" letter Momof3 received? LOL
I never laughed so hard when I heard that one!

If anybody has a very good CREDIT LAWYER...it would be nice to FILE A LAWSUIT for false advertising, and false solicitation for credit...

IF YOU SIGN A CONTRACT TO BUY A HOUSE, AND IT IS ACCEPTED, AND YOU QUALIFY, AND THEN THEY CHANGE THEIR MIND, YOU CAN GET SOME $$$$$$$$
OR SUE THEM FOR "SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE"...

    George,

Actually Pre-qualified is like pre-approved. My brother got pre-qualified offers from Juniper and they got approved for $6000. I applied for Juniper on the web and I got denied because I didn't get enough credit history. My brother didn't have 54 months account history and he got approved for Juiper Card. Next time I got pre-select or pre-qualified from Juniper and I will take the offer since it is tough to get.

My hubby got this same offer a few days ago... applied and got $2000 cl. They pulled Experian and his score was 695. We're in PA.
