Hi Guys. I cannot get a checking account because of my listing in Chex. Truth of it is, I really only need a checking account for direct deposit and access to a debit card. So, I figured I'd just get a prepaid and setup direct deposit with it. My question is, who should I go with? Wired looks very good, and I have an I-Gen MC, but not very happy with it. Any other good prepaid recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was just about to order a card from Wired myself (at www.wiredplastic.com) and I figured I better check here before I do.

ANYBODY HAD ANY GOOD EXPERIENCES WITH WIRED PLASTIC?????

*BTW, I'd be careful about using the site listed in the previous post. The website looks shady. It's too flashy as if they're trying really hard to look legit plus the fonts look crappy. Besides, they can't be too reputable if they have to spam msg boards like this to get customers.

I used wiredplastic and I was happy with them. I had my direct deposit on there too.

Have you tried disputing your item(s) with Chexsystems? I did, and got 2 banks removed and 4 bad checks, and also inquiries removed by just disputing them. I only have 1 item left and will dispute it again later.

    good luck

I would be very skeptical about Captiva as well.

Their website looks like something a 7th grader would have designed in class.

Most serious lenders don't have fancy cars, flashing lights and a site made from a free online flash template.

Also the site is not SSL encrypted or secure.

Maybe they are OK, but a google seach comes up with nothing on them and it looks a little shady.

No visibility on bbb.org. Various "Captiva"s, none clearly associated with captivafinancial.com.

What city are they in? Check their business license. Check with your Secretary of State on their incorporation, and what state agencies would have regulatory oversight.

Regardless of whether they exist as a legal entity, if you pay money to a company to hold for making later payments, you are a creditor of them, and the safety of your money depends on both their solvency and their good faith and competency, just as with any lender.
