Hi, I am brand new. I would like to know if anyone can address this question: If I buy a gift card/prepaid debit card, the terms rather cryptically state that a $2/month fee will be deducted every month beginning 13 months after date of purchase/activation. Does this mean $2 per month will be charged forever, eternally, and the card will never be cancelled?

    Thank you.

I'm pretty sure that the $2 per month would only be charged until the card had no further value. I don't think they are going to come after you in five years demanding $120 in fees.

If it's a gift card, how would they even know who to charge?? Same thing with prepaid debit card.

Of, course, since the FTC took K-mart to court over the maintenance fees in the fine print; the whole gift card industry may be subject to change.

Thank you, yes, this is what I was thinking of. To the question of how they would come after you: You have to register at a website on the internet with your address, etc. to activate the card. Thanks, again.
