Does anyone know of a prepaid or stored value card that does not allow over-the-limit charges? I want to purchase Internet service for six months. My Internet provider requires a credit card for payment. I want to use a stored value card and place only enough value on the card to cover the six months worth of fees. I don't want the ISP to be able to post charges to the card after the 6 months. Once the value of the card has been been exhausted, will the ISP still be able to post charges to the card?
If you paid say $21.95 per month for 6 months and had the card loaded for $131.70...I WOULD ASSUME IF THEY TRIED TO GET $21.95 FOR MONTH 7...THE CARD WOULD BE EMPTY...CHARGE DENIED!!! ...but then the only card of that type I have used is TARGET and WAL*MART/SAMS GIFT CARDS...
Here is what Citi Cash Card says: If this is a prepaid card, can it ever have a negative balance? Attempts to make purchases in an amount greater than the available Citi Cash Card balance will almost always be declined at the point of sale. Occasionally however, a merchant may put a purchase through without l pre-authorization and this may result in an overdraft. Overdrafts must be immediately repaid by loading more money onto the card. There is a $25 fee for overdrafts because it is your responsibility to know your available balance before attempting purchases. Is this true of any card? If there is no preauthorization the merchant can just put the purchase through?
My daughter has a VisaBuxx Card that I set up for her that works splendidly, you can set it up so that it replenishes monthly and there are no service charges, basically it's a free pre-paid card. I love it and it works exactly like a credit card as far as purchases go, including insured purchases.
How did you get no service charge? Costs me 15.00 yearly and every time it is reloaded another charge.
