Okay I have cleaned all my CRs, I am paying down my balances. I have no good cards and some of them new so I know I have to wait on some history. How long should I wait until I can think about going for good cards Hereâ??s the break down for the last two months GM- declined history too short Discover- Declined House Hold gold MC approved $750 CL Amex- as if! Declined Target Visa- Declined (don't you still owe Macys?) ops forgot Citi - Decline before EQ was clean (â??well send us a new copy if that COL is gone we will look at itâ?.) My oldest CC is a CU Visa w/ $1000 CL 2yrs old next mo. What do you think?
I can tell you this much, Amex and Discover say they want to see at least 2 cards 3 years old or more, with no derogs. That is for the revoving cards. The green may not be so strict, but I'd wait at least 6 monts. If you did get rid of the collection, citi may approve you. I would also suggest Cap 1 and maybe go for an Orchard card. Then let them age for 6 months to a year. Then go for the gusto.
I applied for the Orchard card, and they gave me the Gold HH MC? I thought it was funny because a couple of months prior I had applied for the Orchard and they offered a secured card! that was before I got all the negatives off though.
I was approved for Discover Platinum w/ only one year and 7 months of history as my oldest account. I had NO inquiries when they pulled my TU report tho.
As I mentioned I was declined for Discover. I don't recall the reason. But it was before I had the last COL off, it was in dispute. But I don't recall ever getting the letter stating why they declined.
Thanks Bunter Yeah I was very surprised. I didn't have anything that was bad less than 5 yrs old,(falling in love will make a man want to straighten his act up) so I think that helped. No one wanted to mess with anything out of SOL. and I used the tools I found here. So now that I have a "clean" file I want to start beefing it up.
well I was just plain stupid and that is what got me in trouble. Now I want to provide for my family and I am trying to learn the best ways to do that.
Time time time. citi wants to see any derogs OLD OLD OLD. Sorry to say, Amass as many crappy cards as you can, go to a credit union, use the "equifax dispute" trick.. It takes time. Until you reach a spotless record almost everyone (cept citi) will shut their prime doors on your face. Keep your balances low to your available credit, but use your cards every month. Don't do what i did, and rack up a bunch of inquiries. When the time is right, and you use the equifax dispute trick, you'll get your citi.. It's all up hill once that happens.
Well my CRs are all spotless, I have too many INQ on TU but they are all good trades, no lates no COL I have 4 cards now none very old CU visa $1000K cl from 11/00 First Savings MC $350 cl from 6/01 First Premier Gold MC(bogas) $250 cl from 8/02 Household Bank Gold MC $750 cl from 9/02 I know the two new ones hurt the average age so my history is short. But I am wondering how long I have to suffer in sub-prime hell with all my CRs clean to get good cards?
Nyt suggestion is to use the cards you have til June. Next month your CU visa will be 2 years old. In June, your First Savings MC will be 2 years old. Then, as long as you have no derogs, you should be able to get the citis, targets and possible amex or discover.
Thanks LKH I guess I was thinking along those lines, I just didn't want to wait. I like the action of cleaning my credit much more than the waiting part. P.S. thanks for publishing the Bumpage process. I have has success with EQ and am trying to see if it works with TU also.
