Hi everyone, I stumbled on this site looking for an "anonymous credit card". I have alot of reading to do with the previous posts. I will share this with you though. I was desiring to work with my creditors and collectors but you know how that is. at the time i thought they would use their brain but I see they didn't. Yet the phone calls didn't stop. You can get a prepaid cellphone from www.virginmobileusa.com as well as stores like target and bestbuy. Anyways, they said to activate your phone you do not have to type in your name or address. Only a city close to where you live. As a result, no more phone calls. I sometimes call them to let them know what is up, but I can block the number using *67. BUT if you get one of these phones i wouldn't do that. Long story short: I called one blocking the number and they called me back and left a voicemail. So I was wondering how they got my number. BUT they didn't get it. I guess the operator or whoever they spoke with would connect them for one time only but didn't give them my phone number. They haven't called me back since. Hope this helps and quiets your phone ! Bye for now. Douglas.
The first thing you need to know, as you read the top posts, is NEVER talk to a collector. Tell them to communicate only in writing. Send them a validation letter, CRRR.
When you dial (700), (800), or (900) area code numbers you are transmitting your own phone number to the called party. This is because a different technology is used, called Automatic Number Identification (ANI). Calls from a pay phone cannot be blocked. You also transmit your phone number when you dial the 911 emergency number.
i don't mind 911 being able to have my phone but virgin mobile doesn't require you input your name and address to activate the phone online. so no matter what kind of searching they do, they won't find me.
Re: Re: privacy and stuff The phone company tells me that since my number is unlisted it will not transmit when I dial 911.
Re: Re: Re: privacy and stuff INCORRECT When you dial (700), (800), or (900) area code numbers you are transmitting your own phone number to the called party. Re: Re: Re: privacy and stuff either way, with virgin mobile, they allow 911 to gps locate you (this can be turned off for others) and get your number whether you have money on it or not. i was just mentioning them so you could have an anonymous phone in case you are getting alot of phone calls.
