Today I pulled my privacyguard report and noticed some items that aren't accurate according to equifax. These items are negative information. (Things that i've disputed off of my report last year.) When I call Equifax to put the item into dispute, Equifax doesn't see it. Is there something creepy going on or is it me. I am concerned about my scores because now I REALLY don't know how accurate it is. Some things on my report do match my equifax report but some things don't. I just had several collections removed within the past two weeks expecting my scores to go up. I started with a 622 FAKO and a FNBM 120 day late account duplicated causing me to go down to a 539 FAKO. An inquiry was removed bringing my score back up to a 542 FAKO. This morning I pulled my privacyguard report and noticed that it was at a 531. As I searched through my equifax portion, I noticed that my recent collections were gone but a new negative account was added with a 120 day late. Unfortunately, this account was disputed off of my record last year. Has this happened to anyone else. What should I do?
ANY CREDIT REPORT NOT DIRECTLY FROM EQUIFAQ, TRANSUNION, OR EXPERIAN ARE CONCIDERED "RE-SELLERS" The new FACT/FCRA NOW ADDRESSES THE REQUIREMENTS OF RESELLERS. YOU need to dispute an account TO THE AGENCY YOU GOT IT FROM...... This is going to be a huge PROBLEM !
I read with interest that if I buy a reseller report, and want to dispute a TL I'm required to have a report confirmation number, so Equifax will snail mail me a free report so I can get the required number. Check it out at this url: https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/consumer/forward.ehtml?forward=investigation
This is the problem, privacyguard says that they pull from the credit bureaus main database. When I call over to Equifax, i'm calling to a sattelite office and they can't see what's on the main database. Privacyguard then tells me to write a dispute letter to Equifax letting them know that this information has been preivously deleted. Who has the correct credit report, is it equifax or is it privacyguard. Is there really a main equifax office that the sattelite offices have no access to?
-WHOA! The amendments to the FCRA REQUIRE a reseller to "except" disputes and conduct and investigation and report the dispute to the reporting agency. -This is what I was referring to when I said these resellers are going to cause a problem -And there is one central office...THEIR ATTORNEY LOL FACT 611- "§ 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i] (a) Reinvestigations of Disputed Information (1) Reinvestigation Required (A) In general. Subject to subsection (f), if the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumer's file at a consumer reporting agency is disputed by the consumer and the consumer notifies the agency directly, or indirectly through a reseller, of such dispute," "(f) Reinvestigation Requirement Applicable to Resellers (1) Exemption from general reinvestigation requirement. Except as provided in paragraph (2), a reseller shall be exempt from the requirements of this section. (2) Action required upon receiving notice of a dispute. If a reseller receives a notice from a consumer of a dispute concerning the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumer report on such consumer produced by the reseller, the reseller shall, within 5 business days of receiving the notice, and free of chargeâ?? (A) determine whether the item of information is incomplete or inaccurate as a result of an act or omission of the reseller; and (B) if (i) the reseller determines that the item of information is incomplete or inaccurate as a result of an act or omission of the reseller, not later than 20 days after receiving the notice, correct the information in the consumer report or delete it; or (ii) if the reseller determines that the item of information is not incomplete or inaccurate as a result of an act or omission of the reseller, convey the notice of the dispute, together with all relevant information provided by the consumer, to each consumer reporting agency that provided the reseller with the information that is the subject of the dispute, using an address or a notification mechanism specified by the consumer reporting agency for such notices."
