I took the 60 day free trial and called up and cancelled 3 weeks ago (about 3 weeks before my trial was up). Today I look at my credit card statement online and there's $119.99 posted from privacy guard on the 30th.

Just a warning to others who may use this service. I called again today and cancelled AGAIN and they say they'll credit the $119.99 back to my credit card so we'll see how that goes.

I'm pretty disappointed as many people on here have recommended them.

The first time I called I didn't get a cancellation number but the guy went through the whole speil of "why are you cancelling?", "did you get a chance to use the service?", etc. but today I did get a cancellation number.

It sucks though because I'll have to pay this on my next billing cycle and then get a $119 credit because I put it on a card that I don't use for anything anymore except for having a 6+ year old card active.

They credited mine right away. Check online or call the CC to see if it has gone through B4 you pay.

Just wondering I am a little confused? Wouldn't the $120/year be well worth having the ability to check your reports everyday? I have been using PG for over one year now I think? (Maybe I am on the $69 plan though?...come to think about it?)

Still $10/month to have access to check your reports everyday, if you are using your credit and working on improving your credit, seems not too terribly unreasonable?

I sure miss the extra bumpage I was used to getting though, I lost the e-mail with the extra bumpage links about a month ago. Again, with the extra bumpage with PG (5) pull a day trick, I think it would be worth $120/year to me?

I liked them so much I kept both mine and my wife's PG accounts running . It has been great for me . Every 30 days I dispute with the big 3 because I have the info I need with PG . I got a couple free reports and paid for a couple from the big 3 6 months or so ago . Everytime you file a online dispute , they generate a new file number , good for 30-60 days (sometimes more) .
So , every 30 days I go do the disputes and or when the big 3 send me a mail disclosure of the previous dispute . Either way , I know because of PG what's going on with our files .
So far I bounced my wife's credit up by over 100 points (except equifax ... the *^%$*^%$'s ) and secured her a $2,000 Cap one card . Before our BK in 01 , she would have been lucky to get a $500 card . Not because of anything other than our lack of credit education .
Now that I know , I have had bad tradelines removed from both of our files . To be able to access the info I'd need for disputes , Id be paying the big 3 alot for online reports .
The way I looked at it was I was paying a average of $30 for a 3 way pullprior to getting PG . 4 of those in a year and you have paid for the PG . I run my PG pretty much everyday ..... Im still amazed at what pops up and pops back off everyday , and how different items on different account change back and forth .

I loved them, but had the same problem. I contacted them through the feedback part of Triligent's web site. Got executive attention right away and it was IMMEDIATELY reversed.

Now Credit Keeper - their sister site, I'm not nearly as thrilled with them. (lousy customer service).

for those worried about this occuring in the future:
if you have citibank, generate a virtual account number with a 1.00 limit. this is all that they need to create the account. they will do a blind auth for 1.00 when you sign up, simply go and cancel the virtual account number after sign-up or leave it..either way they arent getting more than $1.00 from you. this is what I've done in the past.

however, I think privacyguard is worth the 119 a year. that is just my opinion, of course. if only for the B..

very annoying though..seems many places like this almost purposely will charge you just to see if you notice after you've cancelled.

Thats is correct mark. and they wont cancel the account either at the 2 months mark. So u will enjoy the whole year for free. it works.

By the way, it's no longer $120/yr. It's now $150.

And, if you have a renewal coming up, you're billed at the current rate.

OMG they still have not credited my credit card! I had to call up today to try and cancel for the 3rd time!!!!

    This is simply ridiculous.

I found out that after canceling your account if you attempt to login at all even if you visit the main webpage with auto login on, you risk the chance of reopening your account. Also some people think that after they cancel that they have up till the last day of the trial to keep pulling reports which will also result in your account being reopened.

I just cancelled my PG on October 19th, my trial period would be over November 6th so should be plenty of time for me, plus I got a confirmation number when I cancelled so I will wait and see if I am charged on the week of the 6th.
