What is Progress Engery (Formerly Florida Power Co.) minimum credit score to avoid paying $230.00 deposit that will be held for 2 friggin' years!!! ??? I had BK7 that was discharged July of 03' but my Equifax credit score from PG's fako score is 593 (Progress uses Equifax) while my Experian is 651 Other option to have a grantor (co-sign) for this electric account...which is hard to get I told them about my mother situation that she *MUST* have oxygen via electric power and I feel this is wrong to force people with oxygen to pay $230.00 deposit! Thanks! TG
Yea...but they are taking a risk providing you with a service FIRST, that you then have to pay for later. This is known as credit... So, checking your credit score, they see that you are unlikely to pay your bill. The $230 amount is probably some statistical thing they came up with that shows the approximate amount that the average defaulter walks out on or something like that. Similar to cell phones, and other utilities. This is the very reason this board exists...because good credit is almost a necessity in modern life. Why not just have your mother co-sign? aiki
For FPL, Florida Power and Light, they don't care what your credit score is, they charge 2 times the average monthly bill for the residence as the deposit, and you must pay it within 10 days of connection. They do hold if for 2 years, and it gains 6% interest. I certainly understand the part about the oxygen, but they really don't care about that. The deposit is so that if you don't pay it for 2 months, they can turn it off and still have their money. If there is a problem with the $$ to make the deposit there are some charities out there that will help with that.
