Hi, How many of you have promotional inquiries turned off with the credit agencies? I have them turned off but I am wondering if that is not a good idea because as my credit gets better I would miss out on potential better interest rates, etc. Thanks, Allen
I opted out a few months ago. I never received many promotional offers anyway. Just inqs from some odd places. I did this to hopefully prevent fraud from someone receiving my mail and responding to the promotional offer that WAS coming my way.
We opted-out and don't regret it. There seems to be some doubt as to whether promotional inq's are really harmless.
I opted out and regret it greatly. From what I hear some of the best cards you get are from pre-approved offers. I opted back in, but havn't seen any difference. I'm wondering how long it takes to update. scott
I know that this is kind of crazy, but I kind of like getting offers in the mail. I like getting catalogues more, but I find it interesting to see what kind of offers I get: their analysis of my credit, spending capacity, psychographics etc. I like getting offers and choosing for myself which ones, if any, that I want. I really dont mind getting offers by mail in general because they can be thrown out with very little trouble if I'm not interested. Solicitations by phone are an entirely different matter. They are really a pain.
bumpage is when some people have soft inquiries, that it helps to push the hards off before they hit the 2 year mark. I opted out, and I'm glad because I'm weak, and would want to apply for all sorts of cards!!
