Hi, I'm Jim and I'm a Credit Flake!

I posted twice already seeking immediate advice on an AMEX debt (my wife's account) on which we received a summons about three weeks ago.

The panic has subsided for now, and I have had much time to read and read and read... Thank you all for your comments on AMEX and for what I have read so far!

My goal is to be able to buy a house in six months and pay substantially less than the 7 1/2% that we are pre-approved for.

My Fico is currently in the 560s and I would be dancing a jig if they were over 620 by August.

I currently have 1 90, 2 60s and about 9 30s on my CR for my mortgage. The rest of my credit contains about 8 30s on old accounts and 4 30s on current credit card accounts.

The problem with the mortgage started about a year and a half ago when the company started impounds for back property taxes... about three years worth... raising our monthly payment SUBSTANTIALLY.

When I pulled CRs on my wife and myself, low and behold I found an error stating that we were 30 days past due on my Jan mortgage payment. I was certain, for once, that it was received on the 31st as I sent it express mail and verified that the company received it on the 31st of January.

When I was speaking with the mortgage company the other day, promising to send a payment next week, and armed with the knowlege that on this one occasion I was in the right, I asked the rep to confirm that I was on-time for that payment. The rep. asked me to fax the CR to him and he would make changes accordingly.

My question is as follows: In the letter, requesting a change to January's status, do I also ask for verification of all other negative comments on the report? Each of the three CRAs have a similar number of dings, but not all months match up.

They will have to remove some. Once they admit to having made "a few" reporting mistakes, can I then use that against them to push for re-verification and remove of others?

In the mean time, while I have the Mortgage company tied-up verifying internally, is it a good time to hit the CRAs with a verification letter for all lates on the mortgage account?

Thank you again for any advice and help you all can give!

Have you tried a never late dispute with the CRAs?

    Have not tried anything yet!

I take it that's your advice on the mortgage account?

Do I even bother with the letter to the mortgage company?

    Bump

If I dispute mortgage as never late with the CRAs, do I hold off sending anything to HSBC Mortgage until I see the results of the CRA dispute?
