    Hi,

I am having a hard time referencing or "hot linking" another thread from within my post. Could one of the "experts" please post a sample of the code needed

    Thanks,

    JohnM

    Sure John,
Here is a section of the FAQ explaining VB code.

I realize I left out, and apologize for not including URL LINKING, I will add an explanation later tonight when I update the FAQ.

In the meantime there are 2 ways to refrence a URL:

(I have to put spaces on each side of the brackets "[" and "]" in order for you to READ the code...you need to remove the spaces for the code to function)

    1) If you want to mark some link as a hotlink, you simply put [ url ] WWW.LINK.COM [ /url ] (NOTE: The board software will sometimes do this automatically when you put WWW. in your post, as it did here)

    2) If you want to hotlink some text to point to a URL you simply put [ url=WWW.LINK.COM ] CLICK HERE [ /url ]

If you want to SEE how this is done on ANY post with a hot link in it, you can hit the QUOTE button and it will REVEAL the text that the previous poster put in to his/her code, and you will see the EXACT syntax. When done hit the BACK button so you really don't ADD A POST.

For instance hit the QUOTE button below and see how I entered this link to the FAQ:

    HERE IS AN EXAMPLE

    Dave,

That was a great help. I didn't think to "Quote" a message to get a look at the VB code in it. That trick will help me figure out a lot of little posting tricks

    Thank you for responding,

    JohnM
