Hello all, is it legal for Equifax to show my 2 Providian cards and then have the same 2 accounts now with Emerge show on my report? I now have 4 listings for the same 2 account(with late pays that I am disputing no less!) Thanks for any help!
I had this same problem about a year ago. I had a card with Fleet Bank that was charged off in 1996 and sold to Commercial Financial Services. I disputed the duplicate reporting with all three bureaus, and surprisingly they deleted BOTH the Fleet Bank information and the Commercial Financial Services information from the reports. This may have been because the account was so old, or it may have been because Fleet no longer had records of their accounts and CFS went out of business. Either way, it was a major score. Matt
