OK. For the second time in three weeks I sent off a letter to Providian through Planetfeedback and maybe this time I will get a response. I sent one two weeks ago regarding there lackluster performance in doing credit line increases as of late and heard no response. I know that they are getting beat up by the regulators but losing good customers is not the way to get out of problems. Anyone carry a Providian card and gotten either a credit line increase or satisfaction through PFB in the last month? I'm wondering if they have turned a deaf ear to their customers.
I sent them a letter via planet feedback about my 23.99 apr. I received a letter telling me they will reduce my interest to 19.99 apr. I also inquired about credit line increases. They have a system set up where they do a soft inquiry on Experian for increase approvals. Sure enough, in sept they did an inquiry on Experian. I don't know what the underwriting criteria they use, but apparently they set up a system to automatically grant increases based on credit score.
Yeah I saw the soft inq on Experian too (Sept as well I believe). There has to be some way to override or bypass that system and no one wants to do that, or so it seems. What was your turn around time with PFB and their response?
reality.... does Providian have a consumer advocate like Cap one does with Mr. Cooke? Or an exec. office? Those usually do the trick.
I have my account with Providian for almost fours years now. I recieved a letter in the mail today saying I had earn a $1000 credit line increase. Unbelievably it was free. No charge or change in interest rate. I was impressed because in the past I recieved several offers to purchase credit line increases. I'm satisfied but I would really like a lower interest rate. Side note. I posted a letter to PFB about Cap one after reading on the board of all the success many members were having with Cap One. Sure enough Mr. Cooke called today and lowered my interest rate from 19.8 to 15.9% and increased my credit line from $900 to 1200. I just applied online for a Cap One visa and got approved for 14.9% and initial offer of $200.
I have a total of 3 Providian cards (Providian Gold Visa, Getsmart and Providian Gold Mastercard). I aquired the cards in that order and have had the first card for a year now. I just sent them a letter thru PFB about a line increase on the first two accounts (the MasterCard is new and hasn't reached the four month period yet). I just got a letter from Providian's executive office via UPS second day stating that my Mastercard is still too new. Umm, I didn't ask for an increase on that card? For some reason, they didn't really read the letter like last time (signed by same person- Kashann Stanton). I resent the letter tonight. If I don't get the response that I want, I will call them directly. BTW, the letter came from Pleasanton, CA.
I have 2 cards with Providian (Aria, and getsmart) 1 I have had for a year the other for 4 months. I got a call back yesterday (about 1 week after I PFB'd them). I haven't returned the call yet, cause I had a contact number and decided to call the day I PFB'd them instead of waiting. On the Aria card they lowered me to 16.9% (from 19.99 which was lowered to that last month) and they gave me a grace period, apparently I didn't have one. I am going to call the guy who called to see what they can do about the other account. All i want is an increase. Kellie
I sent a them a letter a month ago via pfb, about having to pay for line increases. well I received a letter about 2 weeks ago. the letter said I was being granted a free 1000.00 increase with no fee. but it also said that I may have to pay for further increases.I have been with providian for a little over a year and thanks to this board I have never paid for a line increase nor have I paid the annual fee.my limit went from $500.00 to $2800.00 in a year.
I called them 2 weeks ago and I had a rep place a manuel credit limit increase on my account for me..I then called Getsmart and they are doing the same thing. I will give it until Friday to call back to see if everything went through..The rep I spoke with stated that she could raise the cl to $1000 from $300..I have not seen it on by account as yet but I will be calling back on Friday if it has not happened..
Maybe I need one of you guys to email a sample letter to me, because I have PFB'd Providan TWICE, and have heard nothing from them!! It's frustrating--I am at 16.9, and want a lower APR--I have heard there's are lower ones out there! cariba
What a joke, I just got off the phone with them. They won't lower my APR (on card #2) cause I have only had it for 4 months. Card #1 is at their lowest rate available (16.9) for the card I have, the classic. They won't give me a credit line increase on the 4 month old acct. cause they have to rate my paying history and 4 months isn't enough time, so I told them to look at my other acct. He said it doesn't determine how I am going to pay on this acct. PLEASE!! So for all of those who can't get through here's the guys number: Franklin Rash 925-738-5424. I hope you have better luck than me! If your account was originally with Aria, ask to speak with Lydia, he can transfer you. Kellie
That phone # for Franklin Rash 925-738-5424 is similar to other execs'. Dial 925 738 54- then add 25 or 26 or 27 and you get a Providian exec.
