My wife just got offical noticed from Providian that her account will be taken over by Chase! Her account is just the basic account with a grace, not Plat. She should received her card by Sept. 10, 2002. Best regards, Mirage
I have a Providian Gold card, but haven't heard anything from them about this. I've had the account since jan 2000. Can I assume that my card was not one of the accounts that was sold? If it were, how would the account be reported? A new entry in the reports or just update to the old one?
I thought I had read that the prime accts were sold to Chase and the subprime were sold to JP Morgan or something, was her acct prime? I have two providian accts, I havent recvd a notification on either. I have a getsmart open in 9/00, and a Providian gold open in 1/01, both 16.9 apr. Hmm. Jamee
I have had MANY accounts that have been SOLD or TRANSFERRED...that is what it says... It should say $0 BALANCE SOLD/TRANSFERRED NEVER LATE. The new account will have the "OLD OPEN DATE" date from PROVIDIAN...(it SHOULD...but then it is-------->PROVIDIAN)...
She is not prime but did not bk. She did have a few dings and Providian considers her sub-prime. I bk-13 and recevied a higher starting cl than her. I am currently a Providian Plat. holder. (opened 6/2000) Her account is about 2.5 years old. Her current cl is 4k. She has never paid for an increase and got one about 2 months ago $100 for her annual and a $500 (non fee raise). She has been offered the Providian MC in the past but she has decline them. Her current scores are from 640s to 680s. If there is any more questions, post them here and I will try to answer. Mirage - thanks for your thoughtful response. Does she - or ever did she - carry a lot of debt on the card. Congrats on your Plat. If you have a grace and no annual fee, you've done well.
She came very close in max out the cl about 6 months ago. Since than she has not used the card and have been paying 4-5 times the min. amount. My Providian Plat. card was just an upgrade from the Gold. I have always had a grace and an annual fee since day one. Best regards, Mirage
Mirage, I Received the same letter in the mail today. I have had the Providian card 7/98 with a 15,000 c/l. My balance on the card is 1,200. I have no derogs on my credit reports. Sean
I received that same letter today!!! I received my card a couple months after my b/k (about 5 years ago). I was sooo excited, it is actually going to look like I finally have a prime card. The only downside is the interest is going to be 19.99% instead of the 16.9% I have now. By the way, mine was just the classic and, at this time, is nearly maxed out.
I am so happy for all of you going to Chase I want to kill myself. My bk is 3 yrs old, should be almost 5 if I had not tried to pay off my accounts.
