I closed Providian a couple of weeks ago when they refused to waive the $49 annual fee because the account wasn't profitable enough. Gold card 10.5 K limit at 19.8 APR. Account history-5 years- no lates. Today, I received an upgrade to a gold premier account. For a mere $49 payment, they will give me a 1K credit line increase. The APR will go way down to 18.9. Just makes me want to transfer a huge balance to express my gratitude that I'm getting such a good deal that they are willing to extend to only a select few valuable customers. (lol)
