Man, I hate it when they do this. It's soooo tempting. I just received a $200 limit increase the other day. Now in the mail I received an offer to increase $1,000 for a $99 fee (actually $1,099 since they increase the limit by the fee amount too) I know I should hold out, but, God, this is sooo tempting

Especially since i was planning on using all my credit to pay off all my husband's Collections so we can use all our cash for the Down payment on a home. I won't be on the loan. Anyway, I'm trying to say no, but....

    hmmmmm,

Hmm you must love paying the 23.9% APR for a revolving balance, eh?

    Just say "NO".

You make a VALID point. Actually, I don't keep much of a balance. And I'm going to get that rate lowered b 4 I start paying his crap. (thanks to the info from Lady C) Sometimes you just have to weigh your priorities. And right now, a huge down payment on a home is ranking pretty high. I still haven't burned it in the bath tub (Doris K)

    hehehe

You would think that Providian would be more likely to lower your APR, etc. if you actually have some available credit to work with. What I'm saying is go ahead and take them up on their offer. You don't have to use the available credit. This way, you keep them happy (they automatically assume that the increase will tempt you to charge more). Just don't charge more on the card. Plus wouldn't this look good on your reports (for example $200 balance and $1xxx limit as opposed to $200 balance and whatever your current limit is). I'm just throwing out ideas.....I guess my main point is, how do you expect for them to take you up on your offer if you don't take them up on their offer?

I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME. I GO ONLINE TO CHECK MY BALANCE AND I SEE WHERE THEY INCREASED MY CREDIT LINE 200.00. I HOPE I GET THE 1000.00 OFFER TOO. I'VE NEVER HAD AN INCREASE SINCE I OPENED MY ACCOUNT IN FEBRUARY. I HAVE PAID EARLY AND MORE THAN THE MINIMUM. I WOULD JUST USE IT ALOT SO I THINK MY BALANCE WAS TOO HIGH. ANYWAY, THANKS FOR THE POST.

    Hi MP$40

Actually I want to take them up on their offer, I just don't want to pay the $99. I know in a couple months they'll prolly give it to me for free :) Still, I want it NOW. I feel like that little girl in Willy Wonka and the Golden Goose Egg. Hehehe What was her name?

Thankfully, I'm not that spoiled. I think!

I called the rep earlier today. I know you can't receive more than one increase within 120 days. I was gonna ask if I could have the $1,000 offer instead of the automatic $200. She said the $200 hundred was actually part of the offer. You get the $200 and then they send you the offer. Anyway, the 120 day limit is for increases above a $250 increase (and if I would have read the back of the letter I would have known that). Basically, expect an offer in your mailbox soon :)

    Kelley-

Good for you (paying your hubby's chargeoffs) ... BUT ... don't let your debt get too high B4 you go for the mortgage... remember, 28%/36% rule (28% of income for all non-housing payments, 36% for all payments).

Are you paying his collections in full or settling? As far as a mort. goes, settled with 0 due is as good as paid in full (not the same for credit cards).

    Good luck!

    Hi Kelly!

Yeah....paying that $99 fee is bunk! Maybe you can call and speak to a nice rep and work your sweet talk magic! LoL...

Hard to pass up those offers sometimes.. If you really need it, do it. If not, I'd wait perhaps next month they'll give you a increase with no fee's :)
