Theres not much difference, and the Aria is easy to qualify for if you have at least one account open elsewhere you should get at least $500.00 credit
One major difference is that Aria cards (except for Persona) feature a 25 days grace period. Providian cards generally lack a grace period.
A few people here were approved for a grace period on their Providian cards, but they had to "manually" request it. Providian wouldn't normally consider it unless you've had their card for a while.
