I had a 5K limit on this card and have never used it. I received a letter this week telling me they lowered my limit to 250 because of a TU credit report that showed usage high on other cards. I have never been late nor an I over limit with any of the cards and this card has never been used.

They said they would report the card in good standing as long as I paid, blah, blah..

    Should I cancel this card?

    Why would they do this?

Just Providian up to their usual tricks. They do it just because they can (and basically because they're SCUM). How long have you had the card?

Wife's JC PENNEYS was $5,000+ reduced to $300 for NON USE...some will CLOSE the account for NON USE!!!

How they are "HURT" if you don't use a card I don't know!!!

My experience with Providian is the opposite of yours but I hate them as well.

In January I paid 4k of my balance on my Visa Classic 8k card. I thought I was being a more responsible consumer paying down my balance on a maxed out card. I have a 5 year old bk with no derogs since.

This month a check comes in the mail made out to me for $3500 from Providian, a cash advance check with no fees! If I cash it I am back to over 90 percent utilization, not good!

I thought the "new" Providian was supposed to be more consumer/responsibility oriented.

Maybe I am just a sucker and they know it, but I didn't cash the check.

Anyway, cheer up. You are not alone.

One of Providianâ??s new benefits was a free FICO score.
So this is used to see the decreasing point effect on your score when Providian slashes your line and your utilization increases on your score.
They sux in the worst way
