I read this article earlier today and was going to post the news. I do not have a Providian acct but just got a 8.7% permanent APR Platinum offer from them. This rate is far below what can normally be obtained from Chase from what I've seen and figured Chase would be a nice addition to the cards I have from Citi, MBNA, Amex, and Target. I'm wondering if I should do it or not. If it didn't get sold, no way would I keep it.
Jason I just did & got approved for the Getsmart Gold So if chase does not get this account I will close it.
Well, let's see. My credit line started at $1k. It's now 9k, after 2 and one half years of perfect, on-time payments Bk was 98. Hmmm. That makes it 2008 before the f-ing thing drops off and I get a quality card. Oh, wait! Providian is scooting me over to Chase?!? OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You, God! May I....may I have Another???
Ya NG, I don't want to keep any card handled by them. I still can't talk myself into applying even though it "should" get sold to Chase.
Thanks Big Beacon! Getting balances paid off to try to get to the 800 club. Have a few inquires from recent house purchase that will probably prevent it from happening.
Providian is not my oldest account and really not impressive. So if I'm not sold why remain and be known as total reject! I'm canceling if I'm not sold!
Oh Yea...maybe if you're not sold you can call and say, "increase my limit or decrease my APR or I'm leaving you!".
You Probably are Staying Put Those who expect that his or her account should be sold to Chase need not worry, according to Lisa in the executive office of acccount benefits of Salt Lake, Utah. I spoke with her today. Only the platinum accounts are being sold - and not every one of them is being sold. By Platinum this means the very old, established accounts with very high limits, in the 20-30k range. Not the accounts in the "low credit category," as she put it. The low level category is credit rebuilding and/or not true Platinum, by industry standards.
