Well, Providian just dumped me. I'm pissed. My own fault really. I've been making large payments on all my cards over the last year. Went from 18k in debt to 7k. When making these large payments, I've been emptying my checking, basically. So, when I scheduled a payment, a forgotten bill came due, and my Providian electronic check bounced, coming short by $3. I did this once before with them in 2002. I also was not late on that one, completing the payment in time once I found out about the electronic bounce. I called and scheduled another payment by phone immediately. It went through before the due date. No late payment. I come home tonight to a "we closed your account, screw you, now keep paying us" letter. Providian for 4 years. Never late, never OTL, etc. Perfect account. I called, and no dice, snotty bitch tells me it's closed permanently and nothing I can do. So, do I planet feedback and try to save my oldest trade line, or do I cut my losses, cut their gains, and bt to another card immediately? I've got Chase, Citi, Cap 1, Amex Blue. I don't want to increase balances, or in the case of Citi, even have a balance on those cards. Is there another decent card I can grab up and do a BT? My scores are running in the 710 to 720 range. Will the fact that the account was not "closed by consumer" hurt my score at all?
IMO Providian SUX If those scores are on TU and you dont have alot of baddies or inq's take a look at BofA Good Luck

"Closed by granter is a Neg." Wait. Now, I know my "usage" will increase slightly, and the age of accounts will go down, but you're saying this account will now show AS A NEGATIVE?!!! Even though it has never been paid one day late! You've got to be kidding me........
