Re: To Saar RE: Providian That's right george. And amazingly the DEFAULT rate on their lowest classic card is 27.9%, yet they are trying to increase current customers to 29.9????????? Something is not right here??????
Re: To Saar RE: Providian Felice, Then you must concentrate on cleaning your negatives before submitting any new applications. You'll need to switch to "cash mode" while you do that. However, you may still be able to get a dept store charge card and a FCNB. Saar
Re: To Saar RE: Providian Well I just got approved for the following Providian Smart VISA card: APR 0% till May, 2002 APR 23.99% after May, 2002 No Annual Fee, 25 day grace period on purchases. My Experian score is 640 (was 642 before the Providian inquiry) This was part of a pre-approval offer that Providian is sending to Wisconsin residents (maybe to other states, too). Providian hasn't accepted applications from Wisconsin before. Tim
Re: To Saar RE: Providian I, too, called after reading this thread. I was told that, your account is remaining at a fixed rate for purchases at 7.99 and cash at 21.9-these are my original terms. Not once has Providian/Get Smart reviewed any of my CRs. No ARs, whatsoever. Once again, when reading this board, be a little skeptical. However, in general, the advice here is solid. With Providian/Aria, now Get Smart remember if you started out subprime, they are going to keep your there. I do not know why since they want people to rebuild..It's the money, I suppose. But, if you started with Platinum you are going to get better treatment.
Re: To Saar RE: Providian They reviewed my EXP in September, but I was deluged with "pre-approvals" - at 23.99%. They don't get it.
Re: To Saar RE: Providian I don't know about the 700 fico that they were talking about. In my experience, it takes two or three phone calls before you get a real answer. All I know is that I did get one of those term change notices saying they were jacking my rate to 29.99 in FEB. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the fact of when I got the Gold card earlier in the year it was before I started my credit repair quest and I probally owed Fico points. Now I am about half way through but my score is still still pretty low (533). All I can say is that when all is said and done by this June (1year into fixing my credit) that they will wish they still had me as a purchasing customer cause I will be migrating to prime cards by then.
