Does anyone who has this card have an annual fee? I just started wondering about my husbands card. He had a Get Smart, and when it renewed (in Sept) they sent a PVG. I'm wondering if this is why he didn't get the $89 annual fee charged last month?

I'm also wondering if that may be why I don't have one either (but still haven't gotten a new card-mine expires the end of this month). I keep trying to call but end up on hold forever...

    Anyone's experience with this card?

When I got mine in Dec. 2000 I had to pay $49 to "process" it and pay an annual fee of $69 I believe. This crappy card had a $300 CL.

After a while they allowed me to pay to upgrade my CL by $950 which I foolishly did. About six months ago they changed my account to Platinum, increased my CL by another $1000, gave me a 25-day grace period, and lowered my APR to 9.9%. When one of their reps called to verify my information and I told them my income (I'm in college now so only work P/T) they said I no longer qualified for 9.9% and bumped it to 15.9%. No biggie, I pay my entire balance monthly so haven't had a FC since going Platinum.

Sad to say Providian is my best card, guess that's what happens when your EQ FICO is 610.

I've been very fortunate with this card. It has an annual fee of $59 but I have yet to pay it. Every year I fax the CEO a request to waive it and he does.

For example, my annual fee was charged to my account last week. They also did something they had never done before, they increased my credit line by $60 to cover it. I wrote Mr. Saunders a letter requesting the fee be waived. Not only did they waive the fee but they let me keep the $60 cl increase.

Under normal circumstances I'd say big deal but with all the Providian cl decreases and APR increases I've been reading about on this board I found that to be odd. It's not the greatest card I have. It has an APR of 15.9% and no grace period.

I got a Gold Card to replace my Getsmart Classic (Blue) when my card expired in September. Sure looks better than the old one. I am hoping that I don't get closed as others seem to have. I was given the notification of the high (29.9%) rate to start in December but I charge about $1.5k a month and pay in full.

    Picantel,

Give them about 48 hours after you send your fax then check your current transactions. You should see a credit by then. Good luck!

Do you guys remember when your fee hit? Was it the exact month your old card expired?

Sorry, but I don't recall. I'll take a look at my statement later and check the date for you.
