Be careful, they may "jack" you. I had mine and dear wifes jacked to 30%. I would steer clear. Try to get a Capital One "no hassle" or a AT&T universal.

Don't do it. They have the worst customer service. They jacked up my rates to 30% for no reason.

They are going to "JACK" most of their customers to 29.99% just because they can!!!

My wife has a Providian platinum at 23.99%, $1,000 CL. no annual fee, no security dep. Now I ask you what kind of a platinum card is that?

Called a few weeks back to get rate reduced, the CSR laughed us off the phone. So, its going in the sock drawer - transferred the balance to BOA gold at 2.9% introductory till 2003. Providian sux.

No George, it is because they have to. They want to
get rid of all the riskier customers. If you did not go
in with about 680 (Estimate), they really do not want
you. This is part of the settlement with the gov. This is why many accounts over five years old were
sold to CHASE. It is unfortunate because so many
people went in to build or rebuild their credit only to
find themselves squeezed out because of the policies established by a former CEO.

Hello Big H, So it doesn`t really matter that I own my own home been at the same job going on 28 years and trying to rebuild my credit I guess my score was around 650......too bad I would have made a good customer.

Maybe I spoke too soon. Just got a congratulations letter today informing me of a 7.99% purchase APR between August 2002 and Feb 2003. After that Prime plus 14.24% curretnly 18.99%. They also enclosed three convenience checks as well. I guess the phone call worked after all. P.S. this is on our Smart Card, not the platinum.
