I just got a pre approval for providian for a visa platinum with 0% apr until july 04 as long as I transfer a 100$ balance, also after that a 8.9 apr, which seems pretty good to me. Good deal? or is providian one of those stay away from companies?

my fico is like 760's but my income is only like 10,000 a year because I am a fulltime student, what do you think? I have a chase plat, a blue from amex, a green card from amex, and a old student cap one, and am an AU on my parents discover, any chance at this pre approval?
Re: Re: providian? I would suggest that you not soil your report with Providian as a trade line (assuming they'd approve). Since you've got Chase and Amex, wait for a pre-approval for BofA or Citi that'll be coming a little further down the line. Why wait for a pre-approval? Because they're typically short forms requiring less info, are sometimes subject to instant online approval vs. the long form which could take days/weeks for a response, and because their BT and go to rates are usually more beneficial than if you were to apply cold.

I just got my green card, thinking that the annual fee would be worth it, using it as a debit card and earning about 20,000 points a year but now that I think about it I am reconsidering my decision and have only had it for a few days, are there any benefits to having the green rewards card besides earning double points on everyday purchases and the coupons they send you for deals on hotels and such? I may have made a stupid decision for 65 a yr:-(

Re: Providian No one wants to hear this, but Providian has two divisions. Providian National Bank, in NH and CA, is the bad division. Providian Bank, in Utah, is the good division. If your offer has a reply address in Utah, then it is a real prime offer. However, if your income is only $10,000, and no one else cosigns for you, and you already have several thousand dollars in credit, then Providian may not issue you a platinum card. A $5000 minimum CL could very well exclude you. Incidentally, ero2, your income could very well explain that $800 CL from Chase.
