I have not had any problems at all. Got a card 2 years ago at 1000 limit and now it is a gold card with over a 5000 limit. As long as you pay on time and a little more than the min. there is no problem. I even called them the other day and said that since I was now upgraded to a gold card and had shown a good payment history, couldn't they lower the apr. They did 4 1/2 points.
There rate is a little high, but their customer service dept. is really good,
if you have a question they will get you
a answer. In over 2 years we have not had any trouble, they also lowered our rate
after we got the gold card. It would be a good card for you in an emergency.
I am going to have to try this. I have a limit of $11,300, but they have not sent me an offer to lower their outrageous 23% APR rate. You are not the first person to post about them lowering their rate, but thanks for the information.
Providian is a great company. I started with an aria credit limit of $ 1000. I've had the card since July 99, and now is $ 3100. I called CS and they lowered the APR from 23.99 to 19.5 If you make your payments on time, you are on your way.
I have a cousin who blasts Providian because she claimed they screwed her over when she reached her limit. She got into a hole.
I stand behind Providian. I got their 23.99% $59/yr account and in a matter of a year, My annual fee turned to $39 and a 18.9% APR and my credit line went up to $1800. TYhey have been very good to me.
