Guys, Now might be a good time to dispute. After several attempts Providian got deleted of EQ. This might be because they are in so much sh^t with the FDIC who knows but now is a good time to dispute and they might not verify _finally_.
Thank you for your post. Curious... what was the approx DOLA for your Providian account and date opened? I'm debating the best way to deal with these guys. Thank you.
Thank you edoggie. I wonder how long is long enough. Has anyone ever had any luck settling with providian for a removal? I just don't know whether to dispute these amounts with CRA's, or try to settle directly.
I disputed a Providian unpaid charge of with a dola of 3/98 back in august. It fell off on the first try, from all three reports.
I am fighting them now. All of the sudden (recently), two of my reports showed 4 HARD inquiries from Providian in less than a one month period. Several phone calls got me no where. The second letter looks like it is working... I think they are coming off now. Providian blamed them on an automated account reviewing system that 'messed up'. Um, 8 hard inquiries is more than a 'mess up' In protest, I closed paid off Providian Number 2 and closed the account (Damn that felt good, too!). Providian number 1's balance was transferred to my Amex Blue and it (P1) will rest in the 'sock drawer' (as George says) as it has a high CL and no fees. I will not give them any more business (although they did me right right after BK, they are pissing me off now). Shawn
Re: Re: providian How soon after your BK - ch7 or 13? I'm very curious, since they've treated me like I have the plague since my Ch7 2.5 years ago. Had a zero balance, did not include them in my BK. After filing, they cancelled me, saying it was their policy. Fine. Two months ago I tried applying for a CC online - rejected instantly, w/no inquiry on any CR. The assumption is they have an internal list of people who have gone BK on them. The irony is - I never burnt them for one penny, nor was I ever late - WTF?? .
