Providian

    I was over 90 days late with my Providian payment but have recently caught my payment up. But now they say the account was closed. Are they under any obligation to reopen the account or am I sol ???? I have been an outstanding customer for 8 years but they refuse to reopen.

    They can close the account, for any reason they like. If you have gone 90 days, they most likely turned your account over to their internal collections dept., my guess is that they even have a different account number now on it.

    This happened to my wife's card, and that was just going over 30 days! And BTW, going over the 30 days was due to THIERwebsite being down for bill paying.

    In short, they may have done you a favor; pay off the card as quickly as possible, and pursue another card from someone else.
