I just requested an apr reduction from providian, and the rep said that my account wont be 3 months old until the end of this month.and only then will they review my account. But she also said that the 23.9% apr is a fixed rate and it probably will not be reduced.I have a $1000.00 limit with $180.00 on the card I could pay this off.BUT I want to keep a little balance in hopes that they would be willing to negotiate with me. How long should I wait before asking for an apr reduction again.any response would be appreciated.

Call and ask for retention dept. and ask for apr reduction.

usually the account has to be at least one year old before they'll consider it. But the definately do adjust aprs. I had mine adjusted to 16.9 last summer. Try it, you never know.
