    Psychdoc,

I'm hoping you can help me with a problem I'm having with Collectech. Their responses to my letters are literally driving me crazy.

I have already received feedback about this problem from others on the board here, but I keep getting mixed messages.

I just received a letter from Collectech in response to my offer of settlement to pay in full in exchange for deletion. Collectech's letter, however, does not acknowledge my settlement offer but simply states that they have received my "dispute" and will temporarily suspend collection efforts until my dispute can be validated.

Since they mention the word "dispute" in their letter, I decided to check mybeing "disputed" on my credit report. They have not added the "disputed" notation to my report.

Do I wait 30 days to see if they can get validation from the original creditor? I am so confused, especially since I didn't ask for validation. I just offered payment in exchange for deletion.

Btw, I could use a 50 minute therapy session and a script for Xanax at this point! Thanks in advance for your help. I hope you are online!!!!! LOL.

LOL, sorry I missed this yesterday. I'm afraid you'll have to get your drugs elsewhere. :)

As for Collectech, they are obviously treating your letter as a request for validation. See how that plays out. You've obviously owed (or not owed, for that matter, if the debt isn't valid) this money for awhile, so you have time to play Chess with these people. See what they come up with, and then report back later here. If they don't respond at all, you may want to proceed as if they didn't validate and send Validation letter #2 (from the Creditnet library) and proceed down that path. In this case though, letter #2 will really be your letter #1, but that won't matter. Basically you will have switched gears because they will have demonstrated that they aren't on top of the ballgame with respect to this particular debt.

Anyway, sit back and see what happens, then keep us posted. :)

    Doc

    Thanks for your advice Doc!

Sending Letter#2 sounds like a good plan to me. I'll go ahead and wait this out to see what, if anything, they can come up with. I'll be sure to keep you and everyone else posted, lol! This board is a great place to vent :)
