i had credit cards in 2000 over 7 years ago i became ill and could not work i am receiving public assistence and still getting threating letters what can i do
Probably nothing - which is just about what your creditors can do to force you to pay them. In just about all states Public Assistance is exempt from legal garnishment. If you haven't made payments on these bills in 7 years the debts are Out of Statute in all but a few states. They have the right to ask for payment. You have the right to tell them to pound sand.
