"public record"-always hurts score?

I've got a bunch of liens that were discharged in my BK and are now all updated to read "released". Unfortunately, some of the release dates are as recent as January of this year. That means they will hang around for an additional seven years, besides all the years they were open.

I have found out that getting a lien filed w/the regstrar of deeds deleted just doesn't happen. They are proud of their books and pages going back to the eighteen hundreds.

So I'm obviously going to have to live with these for a while. And given my BK that will remain until 2011, it's not anytyhing to fret about.

But I might be able to get the BK removed before then. And I'm wondering if the mere presence of a public record is a score buster.

In my case, my scores are pretty decent and I've got 2 liens on EQ, 5 on EXP, 4 on TU. That's not counting my BK, reported on all three.

So does having all the released liens hurt my score by itself? I can't seem to find anything that confirms this. I would think that an automated system would not know the difference between a satisfied/released lien and an outstanding lien.

I had paid tax liens for several years, never seemed to break 700, however, there are people with bk's who have passed 700, so I think it would be possible with tax liens.

Well, I've already seen my score go above 700 on EXP and TU and there are LOTS of paid liens and BKs. I never saw my score change when they were marked as released or paid.
