I was turned down by chevron because of a 7 year old chapter 13. They pulled my equifax file and it showed nothing bad for my credit cards, but my public records still show my bankruptcy. I tried to do the online investigation with equifax but there was no section on public records. Is there anything I can do?

GET YOUR OWN COPY OF YOUR CREDIT REPORT BY MAIL FOR FREE...and dispute it.

Just a simple question, why do you want a CHEVRON card when they accept VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX, AND DISCOVERCARD?

Just starting to test my credit after a long bankruptcy. I've got cap one and providian, just trying cards I thought would be more difficult to get. Worst case scenario is I get refused, which I did, and can get some free copies of my credit reports. I was just hoping I could dispute it online and maybe resolve this a little quicker. If nothing else, I guess I'll learn patience.

Call them and dispute it - "It's over 7 years since the filing date" (Chapter 13). You should have (saved) the confirmation number from the online report, right? :)
