    Hi all,

I found a quick way to find out if you were approved for the MBNA cards/locs. Usualy it takes up to 3 weeks to get an answer from MBNA if it's not an instant approval and often their CS can't give definitive answers. Just last night I called to ask if my converted account was set up and they said "no, it will be another 3 weeks" and that they didn't have any specific info on my account.

But, I pulled my TU report today on an unrelated matter and was surprised to find two MBNA accounts reporting. I applied for an loc on 1/22/02 and it is reporting as of today. I converted the loc to the Quantum on 1/23/02 and it is reporting as of today. I used the Quantum account number straight from TU to register the account online and access the Quantum website.

So, evidently the MBNA credit dept gives the MBNA credit reporting dept. full account info before the accounts even hit the main customer service databases.

Needless to say, I haven't even gotten my loc checks or any quantum info in the mail, but it's already reporting.

Pull your Trans Union report at www.transunion.com. If you were approved, it will report immediately.

Do you think they go out of their way to report immediately or do you think you were just approved at a time that happened to correspond with their monthly bureau updates? I would suspect the latter.

I think they report immediatley on purpose. Sam wrote the same thing last week about his MBNA account, but I don't know how much time lagged between his approval and his report date. Mine was exactly one week for the Quantum. Amazing.

Usually companies update an individual's report on the day the individual account cycles. My cycle date has already been determined by MBNA and for both accounts is 2-21-2002, which means that the loc "cycled" on the day it was approved (1-22-02).

Some companies may still update all accounts at the same time, but I know *for sure* that the following companies update my accounts on the cycle closing date, based on the balances (accurate down to the cent) reported to the CRAs:

    Capital One
    Bank of America
    Chase
    Citibank
    Richs (federated store card)
