    Hi to all

I receive many pre-approved credit offers and when I respond WITH my SSN I am always declined.
When I respond WITHOUT my SSN often I get $500 - $1000 credit card.

I believe that the CRAs have 2 seperate SSNs on me. Is there any way to pull a credit report WITHOUT providing a SSN so I can know the other SSN?

Thanks to all for you reply

The chances are that there aren't two different SSNs, but possibly two different CREDIT REPORTS for that SSN.

    It's called a split file.

When you get the denial 'adverse action' letter, call to get your report, and then call to speak with a representative and ask them whether your file may be 'split'.

When a file is split, somehow portions of your credit file went here, portions went there, you may find some weird splits some only the INQs get split off, your tradelines are in another report, what happens if the lender gets the file with only the INQs; you can get denied for either/or excessive INQs, or a thin file.

You really shouldn't be able to be approved for anything without providing your SSN. The Patriot Act, and a few other anti-laundering laws require that all lenders KNOW THEIR CUSTOMERS.

It makes a lot of sense.
In fact very often (almost always) it is mentionned that I have "Excessive Inquiries".

I'll do what u suggested. Oder my report from the CRA then call to find out if there is a split.

Then if there can I have them to delete only that side of the inquiries or what is my best course ?

    Thanks again for your input

Is there some reason that you might actually have a lot (many 10's to 100's) of inquiries in the last two years? Have you applied for credit many times, have you been looking for a mortgage or car loan which might have been shopped around to multiple lenders, or have you yourself pulled your credit reports many times?

    Thanks for your reply

The only reason I can see is that I often apply for credit card Merchant account. And all of them (processors) check my credit file before anything. I have tried, in vain, to have them to check my credit report as the last step, when everything else is OK.

I am in the MOTO (Mail Order / Telephone Oder) business. Often my merchant account is closed for different reasons. So I keep shopping for another good processor, with down to earth fees.

I rarely apply to the pre-approved offers that I receive. Maybe twice every 6 to 8 months.

Thanks again for your time and help
