Since the long version of this story didnâ??t receive any feedback , Im going to try my luck with a more condensed version:

    Went 30-11/02 60-12/02 90-01/03
The OC sent to CA, but continued to bill me as well.
I continued paying the OC from their monthly statements.
Reported on time for the next 10 months.
In Dec. of 03â??, get letter from CA stating I have broken promise to pay and my silence will be construed as willful non payment, etc. etc.
So I call OC and Im like , huh? And of course they wont talk to me, because this is being handled by their internal CA. I ask how can I be in collec. If Ive been paying you and you have been reporting me on time. How can two entities be trying to collect on same debt? Etc.
I got the brush off, when I told them I would pay it over the phone right then and there as to not deal with this craziness, she told me she couldnâ??t accept payment and when I asked what my true balance was, (since CA has one balance, they had another (per their statement) and the CRA was stating another..i just wanted to know the correct balance to pay?? She told me she couldnâ??t give me that info and to call the CA.

So I called the CA to ask about the balance, and she said you need to pay xyz payment in full today to settle this, I inquired about what my balance was and if they could verify it..she basically laughed was rude and hung up on me. I wasnâ??t trying to be rude, I just didnâ??t want to overpay or underpay and have it come back to haunt me. That is when I had enough and disputed incorrect info with all 3 CRAâ??s and also wrote a letter detailing my situation to OC documenting what went on and just wanted some answers.

Well fast forward 30 days, all CRAâ??s verified, I got some crap letter back from OC blowing me off and during this time they reported me late..then transferred my debt to another CRA(another paper trail, and no notification until march that they were doing this)â?¦I not wanting to fight the fight, just gave up and started a payment plan with the 2nd CA for $300 more than the orig. CA had as my balanceâ?¦well you guessed it ..I was reported late everymonth after that and then charged off. Looks like this:

    Dec 03-30
    Jan 04 -60
    Feb 04 -90
March 04-120 pd. 109.75 taken out of acct on 03/26.
    April- ontime pd 04/26
    May-ontime pd 05/26
June-CO pd06/26..debt is now settled right?? Nope.

Received bill from OC stated balance of 290.00 due on 07/17??

What!!- I now have more current latesâ?¦and I still owe balance and it was COâ??d and arghhh!!! I donâ??t even know where to go on this oneâ?¦please helpâ?¦I wouldnâ??t have had current lates, if I couldâ??ve gotten a straight answer in Dec. of 03 about what true balance wasâ?¦I just feel like I got shafted on this oneâ?¦HELP!!

I understand your frustration completely. You sound like me. Basically an honest person, and you just want to know what the amount of the debt actually is so you can make arrangements to pay. A CA will eat someone like us for lunch, and then make a couple collection calls harassing someone at work for desert.

Most of us here just want nothing more than to move past some of these financial problems that we've created for ourselves.

Step 1. No phone calls. Everything in writing. Most of your agony would be saved in this scenario if you'd follow Step 1.
