    Purch VS Bal Trans Rate:
If you do a $10,000.oo BT at a lower promotional rate can they charge you the higher purchase rate on any portion of the $10,000.oo balance if you purchase something and return the item for credit?

    NO

But on the PURCHASE they can charge INTEREST at what-ever rate for the days between purchase and refund...sometimes it is like $1.00 or $1.50 or $2.00 MINIMUM INTEREST...

But isn't there usually a grace period on purchases?
In that case there wouldn't be any INTEREST on a purchase returned within the grace period would there?

Bank one First usa charged me several bogus 35 dollar late fees due to billing errors.

They corrected their errors and credited all of the late fees but are now charging me the higher purchase rate on the 35 dollar late fees.

    IS this legal?????

NO THEY CAN'T CHARGE INTEREST ON BOGUS FEES EITHER...

    DEMAND INTEREST CREDIT...

Interest credit is part of the DISPUTE...DIDN'T YOU ASK FOR INTEREST CREDIT TOO???

    * I believe they credited me interest but they are still charging me the higher purchase interest rate on a proton of the remaining balance each month.

I combined 2 INTO 1 and the "OLD" account had some interest...they said verbally and in writing--"DON'T PAY IT--IT WILL BE TRANSFERRED"

So I didn't pay it...I ENDED UP WITH 30 DAY LATE FEE PLUS INTEREST...

Kept on getting $1.50 min interest for like 3 months...

    They credited it ALL eventually...

Why should bogus charges be purchases?

I never bought anything I got charged fake charges for being late when I wasn't late.

The charges should not have even been added to the account in the first place.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Purch VS Bal Trans Rate:

They can call them PURCHASES...but they must credit the WRONG LATE FEE + INTEREST to the PURCHASES bucket..."IF" that is where it was charged...

It is possible they credited the <CREDIT> to the BT so you will NEVER really benefit from them refunding the LATE FEE + INTEREST

YOU MUST dispute it every month till it is GONE!!! It may take up to 3 months for FULL CREDIT...including the $1.00 or $1.50 pr $2.00 min interest "IF" that is what is happening...
