A judgment was recently filed against me for around $2,000. Can I have my friend purchase the judgment from the collector and then wave and eliminate it from my report?

If your friend owns a judgment recovery company it might work if he can handle a reasonably large amount of judgments to process. Other than that it probably won't work.

There are judgment recovery companies who do just that, process and attempt to collect on as many judgments as possible but they usually will not purchase the judgment but rather take it on a fee contingency basis. If they can collect on the account then they pay the judgment holder a set amount of money keeping a pretty large percentage for themselves.

They usually have no control over which debts they accept from a judgment holder. They accept a large block of debts and just process them one after the other and pay whatever to the judgment holder as per the agreement whatever that may have been.

So that is very unlikely to work.

    Was the judgement properly filed?
