Last month I disputed a bunch of negative entries with a 3 credit bureaus. The 30 days is due to be up on the 28th of this month. I have a couple of questions about this

Do the CRA's ever resolve disputes and delete before the 30 days are up? Also, when the 30 days are up, do they immediately delete or does it take a certain amount of time?

What can/should I expect when the 30 days are up?

They certainly have authority to delete before the 30 days:

    § 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]

(a)(8) Expedited dispute resolution. If a dispute regarding an item of information in a consumer's file at a consumer reporting agency is resolved in accordance with paragraph (5)(A) by the deletion of the disputed information by not later than 3 business days after the date on which the agency receives notice of the dispute from the consumer in accordance with paragraph (1)(A), then the agency shall not be required to comply with paragraphs (2), (6), and (7) with respect to that dispute if the agency
    (A) provides prompt notice of the deletion to the consumer by telephone;

    (B) includes in that notice, or in a written notice that accompanies a confirmation and consumer report provided in accordance with subparagraph (C), a statement of the consumer's right to request under subsection (d) that the agency furnish notifications under that subsection; and

    (C) provides written confirmation of the deletion and a copy of a consumer report on the consumer that is based on the consumer's file after the deletion, not later than 5 business days after making the deletion.

The CRA chooses whether they will update at the during or at the end of the investigation. From my experience, Experian will update anytime.

I was just wondering because I just looked up my TU report via WorthKnowing.com and it appears there have been no deletions thus far. I just wanted to know if I should lose hope of getting any deletions with them now or not :)

Experian will wait till the 30th day, and equifax is a joke,, I disputed an CA item thats 4 yrs old, changed name of the original cable company ( on report as ATT) when I had the service it was media One,, I disputed this item "as not mine" on a friday night at 3am,,,, low and behold I got an email on Sunday, item Verified,,,,,,, on the weekend,, ??? It just "verfied" what posters here say,, when you dispute, if you dispute not mine,,,,, the CRA do nothing but verify your name on their own tapes,

the same one was verfied by Experian on the 30th day,,,,,,, I learned my lesson, if you want the cras to really contact the CAs and such,, you need to dispute it for times, etc,, not just not mine,,,,,

    tat, don't lose hope yet.

Here is how it has always worked for me:

EXP - may or may not take 30 days to finish a dispute. If you subscribe to Credit Expert, you will see the items that have completed in an investigation. They will no longer be blue and say "Revinvestigation in Process." If you disputed 5 items, they could be finished one by one. If they continue to report after they are no longer shown as in dispute, they aren't going to delete them. If they just disappear, you will know they were deleted. They used to email you all of the results, but I haven't gotten one of those in months.

EQF - I can't really comment on this. I am assigned to CSC. They keep every item in dispute whethere it is going to be deleted or not until all of the creditors have responded. They can also not tell you in the interim who has responded and who has not.

TU - They never show their items as in dispute when you pull a report interim. Don't assume because the items are not noted as in dispute that they have verified them all. That is probably not the case. Call TU and ask "what is the status of my July 29th dispute? Who has responded, who has not, and what is the status as of today?" They will tell you exactly what is going on with it--2 are going to be deleted, 1 verified, and they are waiting to hear from 3 more.

    Hope if helps.l

Thanks for all of your input. That does help to ease my mind a little bit. I have no intentions or illusions of getting everything off in 1 dispute but I'd like a get 1 or 2 off of each report every time i dispute

I have like 5 charge-offs and it appears now a collection account has popped up since my dispute.
