We just had our house built and we just closed today, the neiborhood we live in is new and they do not have cable, so everyone has to get a satellite from Direct TV or whoever if they want any kind of TV programming. So I called to get started in the program, and I was declined due to my BK. My BK7 is 2.5 yrs old, I have reestablished credit, scores around 615-625 and I was declined. Does anyone here have satellite and if so, do you know who to go thru who will approve me with a BK? Try explaining this to my kids who watch Nickelodeon daily that I cant qualify for cable!! This is humiliating! My son will be miserable without Spongebob Squarepants. Anyone else have any experience in this? Jamee
Since when does DirecTV pull your credit report? I signed up with them over a year ago. All they asked for was name and address and a credit card to bill the first month to. They never have asked for my ssn. BTW, my scores are in the low 500's with charge-off and repos on my credit reports. Can't buy a car or a house, but I got TV! LOL!
I HAVE DIRECTV PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD...YOU DON'T APPLY!!! I paid for the whole year up-front years ago...then they sent me a $300.00 rebate check after 2 months...THAT WAS THE DEAL AT THE TIME... You can also get DISH NETWORK who was bought by DIRECTV...to be finalized by year end... FREE BOX~~FREE INSTALL~~4 MONTHS FREE if they still have the deal... GOOD LUCK...PAY UP-FRONT WITH A CREDIT CARD~~~DON'T APPLY!!!
I used to have Dish Network, on and off, for many years. They never pulled a credit report, nor asked for my social security whenever I was reopening the account. They were just sending me an invoice which I was paying with a credit card. Mark
Here in Florida, they pull your credit. They are running a 4 month free special when gettig the NFL sunday ticket, we wanted to sign upp and they told me that they have to a credit check. They did, I was declined, then my husband called another company offering it from Direct TV, he was approved. So now we have it, but both companies pulled the credit. Maybe this is a new thing they do. If you look on any of the coupo things you get in the mail, or look at the ads in the books, it all says subject to credit approval, although we werent financing a thing. Jamee
I 'had a friend' who claimed he purchased a satellite system from Best Buy, went to the counter to activate it and was declined activation on it due to bad credit from directv (have to purchase the system first before getting it activated). Best Buy refused to accept the return of the dish, had something to do with a special card inside of it and copyright laws or something? This was even though he hadnt even left Best Buy yet with it. anyway, he was stuck with a non-functional directv satellite system. he ended up eating the cost and getting dish network , they did not pull his report. he preached constantly about how much best buy sucks. cant blame him I dont know if it was true or not, but I never tried to get directv at that point, got dish network and they just billed me every month. end of story.
IT TAKES LESS THAN ONE SECOND TO CUT YOU OFF...GOOD CREDIT OR NOT... I SUGGEST YOU PAY AS MUCH AS NEEDED ON YOUR CREDIT CARD...(up to one year in advance)... I would NOT let them have your SS#...although they DON'T need it... If they say they MUST run a credit report...ask if you can PRE-PAY with your credit card because the INQUIRY WILL KILL YOUR F.I.C.O. SCORE!!! If they say no...tell them you will just go with a different company or CABLE!!! Saying "CABLE" is like a "CUSS" word to them!!!
Geez, I dont have an answer for you. I just wanted to say that they pull credit for EVERYTHING now, huh? Geez! Thats why so many people 'steal' satellite cable....besides the high costs of having it.
In our neighborhood, they dont offer cable, our only option is satellite, otherwise we would have gotten cable to avoid any credit inquiries... although AT&T Broadbands rates are OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH. Jamee
I only have INTERNET...but I was under the impression they have a PACKAGE deal with INTERNET AND TV...they also are offering a "HOME PHONE" in limited areas...ALL IN ONE PACKAGE FOR WAY LESS THAN THE SUM OF ALL THE PARTS...
In my area, local channels wont be available until October, which was a bummer! But we can hold out. local channels are avail in a lot of areas, just not mine.
AFTER LA AND NY, DENVER WAS NEXT LOCAL...I lucked out... They expect to have MANY more cities soon... What specific benefits would the merger bring? We believe that the merged company will enable DIRECTV to provide an expanded offering of services such as: Provide every customer across the U.S. with their local channels. <------------******** At least a dozen high definition TV channels. Expanded pay per view selections and video on demand service. Enhanced rollout of our high-speed Internet service. Expanded broadcasting capacity to launch new interactive TV services no one else has ever provided. A more robust international channel line-up.
I had direct tv and have a bk7. my scores were 600 and no problems at all... just paid the first month and the debt my cc every month there after...
