Hey board - Vancouver is a delightful city - in every way. I picked u some nice cashmere and leather goods due to the great exchange rate. I used AMEX for the room - Cap One Plat for the goods.

However - Queen Elizabeth was on her 50TH GOLDEN JUBILEE throughout Canada and happened to pull up to the Fairmont across the street for her stay in Vancouver. I was at the Pan Pacific across the street.
    GET THIS:

1 - came up the elevators - the door opened - and there were 4 military with a LARGE DOG on the elevator. They politely asked if I could wait for the next elevator LOL! I did! She drove up in a creme colored lincoln - in the middle of 14 vehicles.
The city was thrilled - and so was I as she waived at her arrival. REally neat - a fine lady throughout history - Dogman enjoyed this tremendously.

2 - the Pan Pacific room service person told me the Queen was at the Fairmont ONLY because....
drumroll please....I could not make this up....
DIANA had stayed there previously with Dodie...

Of course, returning to America, unfortunately I again did not believe one word that came out of my president's mouth. With the Port strike, the economy, the jobless, and things rapidly declining STILL in our markets, I did not hear one piece of evidence AGAIN that IRAQ is a threat more now than 10 years ago.

George Bush - I vote you out. This war threat is bullshit - and if I were IRAQ right now - hearing this crap from a politician in another country who NEEDS to be REELECTED - I would watch my ass.

    The Canadians LOVED their Queen.
They did NOT love George BUSH.

Mr. BUSH - there is something called a CONSTITUTION - even you must abide by that old document.

It seems so strange to me that in a MONARCHY - things are good and people are very happy. I was almost disappointed I crossed back over to our own problems and rhethoric.

These are dangerous times friends - dangerous times.

    sincerely - DM

    Now now,

Must keep our superficially thought out, ill-informed political opinions to ourselves.

    Not a President bashing board.

    Down boy.

Its not my intent to personally bash the BUSH family. Its the ENRON strategy in government - diversion - separation - the rebuild a different "scene for focus'"

My point is by his threats - how is that recieved by OUTSIDE GOVERNMENTS? They are not backing BUSH's premeptive ideas.

Last comment was merely to point out it is very very dangerous because we are only covering news from US perspective.

Do we really think that Hussein is not listening to this and getting really pissed?

They may well hit us first due to some jerk mouthing off to divert attention from the horrible lack of effectiveness that has been displayed.

I am not even poltical Butch - but I did demonstarte many times for Vietnam. But I feel this is wrong and moving forward .

best - Ill get off it - but I am very disturbed about IRAQ's FORCED reactions - all due to political internal reasons for a guys JOB!

lastr - but tomrrow this will be worse.

    bob - yup

I think we have a great problem with Canada at this time by letting the evil people roam free in their country waiting for a chance to attack us. Canada arm services is down to about 45k troops to protect the country with depending on the US to protect them.

Dogman, if CN had a Post of the Week, this should be it. I don't have much more to add, except this amusing piece that's uncomfortably close to the mark:

    Morning Dm

Don't cry when Momar or Abdullah sets off a dirty shoe bomb laced with anthrax he got from Saddam near you or any of your family members.

I think people need to get their heads out of their bottoms and realize what can happen if we don't do something. He has been given 16 chances to disarm and do like he is supossed to do but he hasn't. We can afford to wait . We got to much to risk if we are wrong. Whats it gonna take? A bomb going off at a elementry school in French Lick Indiana to make people see this isn't a game, that we can't reason with a man like Hussein.

    Oh puuuulease!

I don't usually comment on political threads, because MOST of it is people with their wild opinions and no real facts to back it up.

Are we going to overthrow every nation that doesn't do what we want, when we want? Do you really think terrorists are limitted to getting chemical/biological/nuclear material from Iraq?

Why exactly do we need to reason with Hussein anyway? Isn't Iraq a sovereign nation? What business exactly did we EVER have involving ourselves in his little takeover of Kuwait? Oh, I know, we were protecting US interests, right?

Bleh, there are enough opinions and things to argue about if we just limit the discussion to credit. Isn't there a general talk board for politics and other off-topic issues?

    jambe - I agree completely.

If nothing else - this board is closely tracking with the general American population - 50-50!

Hold on - let me look out the window - there are now 17 freighters STUCK in SF Bay. Oh well - $2 bill a day in costs and soon, NUMMI Auto will not get parts.

I guess that's not too bad - at a theoretical cost run rate of nearly $100 BILLION if this were to continue.

Wasn't Germany a sovereign nation? We ignored Hitler and over 6 million people died. Is that what its gonna take for people to act?

Hi SilentBob - I agree there absolutely.
    But Iraq ain't messing with anybody more than some other countries;

I still vote economy NUMBER 1 - IRAQ can wait.

Lots of sides and levels to this issue.
    Market down now:

Wall Street firms and US Airways just announced
    mass layoffs.

I agree also. My 401k has taken a whupping also. Im glad Im in my mid 30's and really don't need it but I also want to be around in my 60's to be able to spend it.

Hopefully this board of inquiry Bush made yesterday will help end that strike.

advice to Congress and Pres Bush CUT CAPITAL GAIN TAX and watch the economy grow with leaps and bounds.

Also incorrect. Recent "properly done" polls put the numbers at about 62-68% in favor of dealing with this clown NOW.

Again, the general population has more wisdom than the limited number of "peace niks" who would presume to wait until we get nuked before we act.

Flying planes into buildings and killing 3,000 innocent civilians doesn't seem to pervey the message.

Further - May I remind you that the economy began tanking during the last quarter of the Clinton Presidency. Ya know - the guy that was too busy getting BJ's in the Oval Office to do anything about anything.

It's being debated now, and for the next 3 days on Cspan.

May I suggest you catch up on your knowledge.
