When a creditor charges off your account, then sells it to another creditor and that new creditor lists it on CR as: Account Type: Unknown - Credit Extension, Review or Collection Open.

What does Credit Extension mean - they certainly didn't extend me any new credit!!!!

And how can you report the Account Type as Unknown??? Don't they (creditor who bought the account) know what account type they are dealing with???

I have never seen this on credit report before. Does anyone have any clues as to this - please explain. I just found this on credit report I ran last night.

    Thanks for all your help.

credit ext means just that you were at one time extended credit. the source should be listed say citibank was the OC and the acct was sold to the Ca
the ca would most likely list their TL on the report and on the bottom it would say who they are collecting for.

    the date, amount etc.
if you think its wrong or dont know who it is I would first dispute it with the CRA and see what the investigation results brings you, that takes about 30 days to complete. then the Cra will send you the results if anything changes a new CR will be included.

post back your result sand if you need more help. good luck :)
