I just got my CR from TU and I noticed that the close dates on the individual accounts are different from the date that I filed Chapter 7. Shouldn't all the close dates be the same as the discharge date of the BK? Could I use the differing dates as a way to remove the items from my report? Any help is appreciated. By the way this forum is great, I'm glad I stumbled upon it, I just wish I would have before filing BK!

The account should be closed before you file. The longer the account is closed the quicker it will get to the 7 year mark. Just incase it stays on.

I know I didn't actually close the accounts before I filed. But shouldn't the dates all be the same, as in the day the BK was discharged? And since they are not could this be a legitimate reason to have them removed?

When you file Bk all the accounts are frozen. The date of last activity is when either the account went past due or the date you filed BK.

You want the date to be as early as possible so you start the 7 year clock. Most likely with the dispute process you can get them off before 7 years, but worst case you have the clock running. Your Bk clock started when you filed too.

You can use the dates as a reason to dispute. You want the dates to move backwards, not forward.
