Hi! I had some credit problems in 1996 and 1997. My cc debt ran up to $19,000. I owed approx. $2,000 to Citibank but I had never been late on that account. Anyway, I joined Genus Credit Management in 1998. Citibank and Sear put a statement on my credit report stating that it was managed by consumer credit counseling. Soooo once Citibank became very close to being paid off (last month) I removed the account from Genus so that I could get the statement removed from my credit report. Anyway, I called earlier today and one representative told me that the statement would remain for 7 years so that every creditor will knowthat I participated in consumer credit counseling. In addition she said the account will say it was closed by credit grantor. This is not true because Genus asked them to close it once I started the program. However, I called a few hours later and a different representative said that the cc statement would be removed and it will say paid and current. Anyway, I was soooo frustrated after I spoke to the second person that I paid the account out over the phone today. I just want to wash my hands of them. I mean I have NEVER been late on that account. They DID NOT lower my interest rates. The received the exact amt I was paying them prior to Genus. Yet, they still want to punish me by adding that statement. Especially since this account is no longer with Genus. Sooooo will I be able to dispute them if they keep reporting that the account is managed by ccc??? I mean, the account is paid off as of today. Don't get me wrong joining Genus was the best thing for me to do at that point. If Citibank and Sears were to remove those statements everythign would be perfect. We will be debt free in Decemeber. We want to buy our first home early next year so I'm trying to get this removed. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide. my3boyz P.S. In case you are wondering why I added Citibank to Genus when it was never late it is because Ihad too many payments to juggle. Only two of the accounts had lates but I was barely able to pay minimums. It was the best decision for me at the time and I don't regret this. I'm just a bit angry that they are punishing me when I was never late on their account and I paid them every dime I owed. I just don't understand.....
I think that you should write Citibank's Executive Office (via PlanetFeedback.Com to "Citibank, N.A.") and tell them exactly what you have written here. Ask them to kindly remove that notation from your Citi tradeline. What you have said is very compelling and anyone with a sense of decency there would give you what you ask.
