    Hi all,

Can somebody plaese let me know what those agency's can do and what not?
in 1996 I voluntarly turned my car in because of personal reasons. Well, after not hearing from them for over 2 years all of a sudden they want money.
We offered to make payments but they wont the whole amount.
The best part is, they threaten to get my husbands security clearing revoked, wich he needs for his Job.
Are they really able to do this?

    Any advice???

    thanks

I seriously doubt that!! That is usually based on criminal and background checks and a repo'd car is NOT a criminal act to my knowledge. They will threaten damn near anything to get you to pay but if you are assertive and show them you know the law..they back off rather quickly. Go to www.ftc.gov and read and familiarize yourself with the FDCPA.

    Thanks for that link Christi,

I think i'll file a complaint, since they called my husbands boss, and acording to the website, they are not allowed to do that .

    Thanks again

They called his boss!!! I would have their axx in court so fast they wouldn't now what hit 'em. Get a lawyer- I bet anything you can sue for damages in this case- these people are asking for a major lawsuit... they scewed up royally, go get 'em!!!
